i dont understand, when i installed the chip the first night everything ran perfect. now a few days later when i go to start up the motor revs up to 3000 RPM and just stays there. the chip was given to me and its a hypertech(dunno if its a thermo or a street chip). i'm gonna call up hypertech tommorow and find out which one it is. can anybody explain to me whats goin on or is it something else.
I bought a used hypertech chip off of Ebay and when I installed it I got a check engine light. When I scanned my car the code was for a bad MEMCAL. I plugged my original chip back in and the car ran fine.
My advise is to go back to the original chip and see how the car runs.
Good Luck!
i did and it still ran at 3000 rpm, i didnt reset the battery though, i'll have to try it. what i dont understand is why its messing with me now. i figured if it was gonna screw me over it would of done it the first time i started it with the new chip in it. i havent thrown any codes, and when i did drive it the fans kicked on lower and there was a power increase. i think its something esle, it just seems a little odd that it happen right after i installed the new chip.
unless the chip was burned for your specific setup, mods, year model ect.. your asking for problems. for a decent chip at around $150 i would recomend pcmforless.com talk to alvin.
ok i found the problem...maybe. apperently when i start up; the throttle body isnt closed all the way, the plate on the side isnt resting up against the screw on the left side of the throttle body. when it starts up i must hold the throttle body plate down against the screw for it to idle at a lower speed. i'm thinking the gas pedal and the linkage is messed up. can anybody confirm for me or give me any ideas? any help would be thankful, thanks
