Well I had to take the plunge and get a better radiator for the 383. The 3 core all metal radiator I was running with the stock motor just does not cut the mustard. More HP more heat. The temps here in AZ during the summer are extreme and even though the temps have been relatively low sitting at idle the temps don't go below 215 and 195 at cruise. Today I get the AC charged back up (new tires and 4 wheel alignment as well) and the temps will only get hotter here in the land of blistering heat.
The temps aren't bad but I would just like the fans to turn off once and a while. I am also running a Aux fan from a 88 so I know I have enough air flow at idle.
Every automotive radiator I have ever seen has one radiator core and two tanks. The radiator being replaced, above, has a core with three row of tubes. The stock factory OE radiator has a core with a single row of tubes. The Dewitt's and any other high capacity, super radiators have cores with two rows of tubes. But, all with only one core.
