egr pipe

i have a 86E coupe and i am going to pull my intake tommarrow to reseal it and was wondering what i should use to rewrap the egr tube with? it original insulation is shot and falling off. would it be safe t use header wrap?

what dose the wrap do, keep the tube cooler?

It helps keep the heat inside the pipe and out of the engine compartment.

Ecklers or MAD has a replacement insulation cover that installs and looks like the original.
