they might be. Ecklers, at the very least, sell plastic lenses. I don't like them, really. I don't like their light properties, and they are prone to yellowing.
The concept is simple, the plastic is lighter and puts less load on the motors.
I prefer the Hella conversion. Uses a HB2 bulb...
