Over the weekend my smog pump began making a funny noise. At first I thought I had a noisy injector, but when I popped the hood I was surprised to find out that the noise was coming from the smog pump. If I put my hand up to the hole in the back of it, I can feel air pumping out of it, which seems a bit backwards to me. The noise is a ticking, just like a noisy injector.
I'll probably just open it up and gut it, but first I wanted to check and see if anybody else had a situation like this.
Mine squealed a little bit last year but a couple squirts of oil took car of it. This is a tapping sound, not at all unlike a noisy injector. I'm a bit confused as to what could be causing it.
I guess I'll have to take it apart and figure it out. I just hope it doesn't grenade before I've got time to deal with it.
