Engine Whine...(not complaining...)
Developed a high pitch whine recently that varies with rpm...
Has anyone gotten this as the water pump was dying? Any other ideas?
Thanks

Torque convertor may be failing, they will whine as the turbine fins start to wear off.

Might be alternator bearings.

Someone didn't sneak under your hood and install a supercharger, did they? Bastards!

Damn, I thought of that too. Funny thing, when you install a supercharger, all those other noises disappear. I can't hear any whine in my rear end, no clutch noises, no power steering noises and no water pump noises. Only problem is that you can't hear those noises to tell if something is going.

Mine has developed a strange whine too, sounds like a supercharger. Unfortunately I think it is my throw-out bearing. I did check for the SC though
