I have a 1985 coupe. The heater / blower fan suddenly cut out. I removed the fan from the car and bench tested it...works great. The heater / Blower fan relay located at the base of the blower fan was also removed. I then checked the wires / plug that the fan relay plugs into. I am getting a 12vdc reading from the black ground wire. Keep in mind that the Blower fan motor and the blower fan relay is not in the car. I was wondering how can I be getting a 12 volt reading from the ground wire? Is there another relay that feeds this heater/blower relay? (A/C power relay?) or could it be the manual switch itself. The following wires from the relay plug also gave these readings:
RED (always hot) 12vdc
Black(ground) 12vdc
lt blue (low setting?) 12vdc
orange (high setting) 12vdc
black with red stripe (fan feed positive) no reading.
I did get a ground signal from a continuity tester from the lt blue wire, but suddenly that turned to 12vdc. These readings were taken with the car ignition on and the blower set on high. I am perplexed. If it is another relay..where wouldit be located.
