my buddy has a 93 6 speed, he added l/g tubes & gained 14 hp. the tuner says l/g tubes without a cam will not gain much. has any other owner had this happen.

That sounds about right for a stock motor. But think of it this way, now he has a better breathing engine that is ready for heads/cam later

If you add performance cats and low restriction mufflers you'll get a bit more. After that you need to go inside the engine, roller rockers, cam, etc.

By the way, the stock engines don't see any great gains from those $300.00 plus "ram air" intake systems. They look cool as all get out though. That has been beat to death on here and they did dyno tests to back it up.

Agreed on the exhaust... not so agreed on the "ram air."

You see, even the GM factory Ram Air systems don't help one whit on the dyno - you need pressurized air coming at them. they do help on the street, tho. If only by cleaning up the intake track and allowing for cooler air to enter.

there is one ram air that actually draws it's air from the air intake under the bumper. It's the one I intend to buy.

Without touching anything else, it's hard to gain anything with any type of exhaust change.

Mostly though, ram air systems really start to come into their own about the time you begin to surpass legal speeds. If I ever were to install one I would most likely build it myself and only install it for track use.

I think that would be determined by the year...

But on his '93, I agree with that
