one last question on the egr pipe crimp. i have reinstalled the pipe and crimped it. is it bad if you can still spin the crimp? its not free spinning. it takes a couple of pounds of pressure to turn it. i haven't leak checked it, yet. i am waiting for summit to deliver my new injectors tommarrow.
Just try to get a pair of tile nippers in there and squeez it as best as possiable.
If it spins no big deal .
Make sure the two pipes can't pull apart.
Just snugg up the tork bolts to the manifold, don't crank them so tight you can't ever get them off again.
The heat will swell up around the bolts and seal them to the manifold.
Didn't the later L98's have a two bolt flange instead of the crimp ring?
Yes, and I believe that the switch came sometime mid-year of the '87 model year. My '87 was built in 10/86 and had the ring, yet other '87 owners seem to have the 2-bolt flange.
