msd making static on the radio
yesterday and now the sterio has static when ever i turn it on. could this be a ground? any ideas?

Msd sells a noise filter and I install one with every box I wire in. Then I put a small smear of dielectric grease on the rotor tip(per msd tech) and have no noise issues. Sometimes rf produses noise. If this is the case the box may need its location changed. I doubt this though.

A noise filter in the ignition is typically a big capacitor that grounds out the RF frequencies. Any large capacitor will work. You run a wire from the big red wire on the MSD to one side of the capacitor, and then from ground to the other side of the capacitor. The capacitor traps, and sends the RF noise to ground.

Visit their website, they offer two noise filters. One for noise only when listening to FM and one for noise all the time (listening to CD...). One of the filters goes on the box power supply circuit and I can't remember where the other goes. I think the info is in the tech support drop down menu. Mine is pretty horrible as well, CD, radio even with the volume on the radio all the way down. The only way to make it go away is turn the radio completely off.
