How to index an optispark?
OK...I have my brandy new optispark to fit my "94" Vette from Chris
Just how are you supposed to index this thing to get it in the right firing order?....I don't see any special grove or tang on the shaft

As I recall, the dowel pin extending from the cam shaft through the timing cover is slotted so that it interfaces with the opti in only 1 way.

yep...make sure the flange on the opti mounts flat against the three mounting bolt holes. If there is any resistance then it's not properly engaged/aligned with the cam pin.

check out "my corvette pictures" for a visual. mine only went on one way and it went on real easy. took alittle while to get it clocked. it only goes on oneway. don't force it what ever you do. if it dont then turn the inards alittle and try it again.
oops my pics won't help any

Are you talking about a 94 opti or a conversion to make the 95 opti work? One uses the dowel pin and the other uses a splined shaft with a very small fill in one spline so it will only go on (correctly) one way.

If it's a '94 opti going in a '94 car, then the little splined shaft only goes in one way, there's one tooth missing on the shaft
