Default Larger TB?

Just wondering if it would be worth while to install a larger throttle body and port the pleum to match, with an otherwise stock intake system. I do have a Vortex Ram Air installed which obviously flows more air than stock. Any thoughts?

I'll let you know July 1. I'm going to a test and tune at a track 250 miles from here just to compare my 48 to my 52 tb's. That and get my first taste of drag racing

I've only been once myself, at Texas Motorplex, and it was a real thrill! My car hooked up so good, I could definitely feel the G's. And that was before alot of tune up and upgrades I did. My best time was 14.0_ something, I know I'd do better now. Good luck to you, and am looking forward to hearing back from you! BTW -- Do yu have a ram air?

Most members will reply no, but I noticed a definate increase in throttle response with a 52mm tb. Probably no HP increase, but it responds much quicker.

Porting out the Plenum is a good idea and the 52mm Throttle body. But now you should keep the air flowing by getting larger Runner Tubes and port out your Base Intake to keep the air flow going down the line. Now people will tell ya to keep that flow going by Porting the Heads and so on. I have a 52mm Throttlebody on my 90 and didn't notice much. Run it at the track a few times first before you put it on to get a baseline then put it on and go back and run it and see if those times dropped. PIPE

I believe this is a long running debate. I think the consensus is: without much mods, don't wase your money. With heads/cam package, it MAY help however, it has not been dyno proven. More of a SOTP thing.

When I did my heads/cam package, I figured I may as well get the 52mm. However, the shop could not get a hold of one and instead installed a 58mm! (they also ported the intake to match).

Most people would say that is far too BIG for a 350, however, my car seems to run fine (when I don't have an opti problem) and it makes great power. But I am sure 99.9% of the power is coming from the heads, cam, headers package...
