Default There goes my LCD Cluster..

, so my LCD went freaky, then dark on Saturday, and blew it's fuse.

It then blew 3 other fuses right after putting them in the socket..

Then I took it apart and I smelled the slight hint of burned electronics from the powersupply.. Ohh Joy..

Soanyways. what good places, other than than Taber guy are good in rebuilding these and quickly?

Thanks..

The power supply board piggybacks to the top board. I have a spare that you can try. You cover the shipping. PM me if this is reasonable.

I opened the cluster up, and this is the only thing I saw that looked out of the ordinary on the powersupply, where I smelled the burning.

I tried to find that piece on-line.. No luck..

Anyone ever fix their own LCD dash power supply?

Default Fix Power Supply?

On the device with the metal tab/back, is there a number on it such as 7812 or 78xx? If not is there ANY number on it? If it is a 7812 or 78xx it is a 3 terminal voltage regulator chip available at Radio Shack, etc. The last 2 digits are the voltage of the chip. Otherwise it might be a transistor. Any more info?

How long did it take you to pull the LCD module? I've been traveling a lot lately and haven't had a chance to chase down the gremlin that makes mine blank out intermittently.

As for the component that you circled, have you tried searching Mouser.com or Newark.com for a replacement? Might be worth a shot. Good luck!

You can try Corvette Center in Newington. They fixed mine years ago so I cant remember what it was.

The only other '#' is the imprinted '3H32' on the metal heatsink part.

I couldn't find anything out about it, don't even know what part it really is.. I was hoping it was a regulator or something , but no clue..

I'll call the corvette people in newington to see if they still repair them.. Thanks for the info.

I poked around a little and couldn't find anything useful on those numbers either.

There's a good chance it took out other things when it died anyway, so I'd be inclined to get it repaired or buy a used one.

yeah i Already ordered a replacement one with Corvette Center here in Newington, CT. Was $300 and same day exchange. Should be here thursday. I recently put in a new Stereo headunit, so I'm wondering if that
could be doing something , or it's just a coincidence. The stero's been in th ecar almost 2 weeks, no problems, nad it works flawlessly..

Might try looking for pinched wires behind your stereo installation. All it takes is one wire and they're tough to troubleshoot.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too.. Just thought it would blow a fuse on that specific circuit then, instead of the LCD , but the circuits on the early C4's use multiple circuits for power themselves, so it's a mess when you look at the whole picture. Before putting the new LCD in, I'll remove all the stereo wiring and redo it.
