On the device with the metal tab/back, is there a number on it such as 7812 or 78xx? If not is there ANY number on it? If it is a 7812 or 78xx it is a 3 terminal voltage regulator chip available at Radio Shack, etc. The last 2 digits are the voltage of the chip. Otherwise it might be a transistor. Any more info?
How long did it take you to pull the LCD module? I've been traveling a lot lately and haven't had a chance to chase down the gremlin that makes mine blank out intermittently.
As for the component that you circled, have you tried searching Mouser.com or Newark.com for a replacement? Might be worth a shot. Good luck!

It takes me about 5 minutes to take it out..
I checked those sites. Nothing with the exact same referenace or anything..
yeah i Already ordered a replacement one with Corvette Center here in Newington, CT. Was $300 and same day exchange. Should be here thursday. I recently put in a new Stereo headunit, so I'm wondering if that
could be doing something , or it's just a coincidence. The stero's been in th ecar almost 2 weeks, no problems, nad it works flawlessly..
Might try looking for pinched wires behind your stereo installation. All it takes is one wire and they're tough to troubleshoot.
Yeah that's what I was thinking too.. Just thought it would blow a fuse on that specific circuit then, instead of the LCD , but the circuits on the early C4's use multiple circuits for power themselves, so it's a mess when you look at the whole picture. Before putting the new LCD in, I'll remove all the stereo wiring and redo it.
