Thanks for the tip steve9899. Here is a post that sums up precisely what the camaro boys think about taking this mod path:
"I wonder how many lt4 topends out their there would be if we actually endorsed the idea. That settles it, Im going to help GM out and tell everyone to get one. (yeah I know there are better options, but the best way to learn about life is the hard way, woe to the next sucka who asks this)."
In my opinion.. have the LT1 heads fully worked/ported with new valves. have a custom hydraulic cam made. add 1.6 rrs and new springs. Swap in a 4.09 rear gear or 3.73s and hang on.
I am not sure why everyone is comparing the kit to a stock LT4. I could absolutly see the kit producing more power than a stock LT4. The kit is not just to convert an LT1 to an LT4 you get a better cam which if it is matched to the flow of the heads it can make a big difference. And yes, if you read the fine print it says you have to have the car tuned but that is it. Everyone is so quick to dismiss the kit eventhough we have no real feedback from someone who has actually tried the kit. The way I see it is even if you buy the kit and it does not give you the power expected you still have better heads, better cam, better rockers and better intake. All of the components will make the car perform better and make the car respond to future bolt ons better. I would like to hear if anyone has tried the kit. Just one mans crapy opinion.
imo the 'kit' is for the dumb buyer who doesnt realize porting your own lt1 heads with a dremel will gain you significantly more power than stock lt4 castings.
