Default Procharger - Camshaft

Has anybody experimented with really lumpy camshafts in LT1's combined with a procharger? I have a Lingenfelter 215/220 .500/.510 but it idles almost like the stock one and I'm wanting to upgrade to something that thumps.

Before I blew it up, I ran my Procharger with the Hot Cam Kit. Sounds really good and ran great. I'm running a Comp Cam with about the same lift but more duration and wider lobe centers now on my 383. It runs great, but I liked the Hot Cam idle better.

I run a comp custom ground cam with 224/236 which has a lumpy idle. Also you have to bear in mind that the more overlap your cam has the more boost you bleed off. So its a double edged sword, more overlap equates to more lump, more lump less boost. In this area bigger is not always better, your LPE cam which is a 74220 if I remember right makes great power with a small blower. I had that same cam, my car ran a 11.15 on a hot 90 degree day at 5000' above sea level at Albuquerque raceway a few years ago with 12 lbs of boost.

239/249 @.050 600 lift both on a 112 lobe center. Also remember, 1)emissions 2) boost is a result from unused air in the intake

Competition Cams Solid Roller 12-000-8

248/254 @0.050
0.616"/0.622" lift with 1.5 rockers
l0.016/0.018 lash
112 lobe centers

I run 1.6 rockers, cam is installed 1° advanced, and I run a D1R.

Still working on increasing boost through reduction of flow losses (i.e. larger IC).

And yes, it does "thump" at idle.

Thanks for the advice, I need to rethink my decision on the larger Cam......I'm only making 8lb's of boost and do not want to loose any of that. What is involved with increasing the boost on a stock PSC1? My heads are mildly ported and the stock exhaust is coming off for long tubes and cat backs so it could handle more boost.
