I've watched my Corvette sit quietly in the garage for several years with only short runs every now and then...well what's the sense of owning a car like this if I'm not going to drive it right?
Here's the deal, I'm seriously thinking about doing some minor mods to my car and having some fun with it. The only problem is I don't know where to begin.
I have (finally) found a ACI for the car and ordered it
I'm also considering doing a cam swap with something a bit more responsive. I've also been told to put a higher stall converter in it and get rid of those 3.07 gears...
What I'm looking for are ideas and suggestions on what works and what doesn't. I don't want to end up with a bunch of problems in the end.
I sold the love of my life a couple of years ago and have been in withdrawl ever since...
it was an 1987 Trans Am GTA which I built from the ground up with an L-98 from a 86 Vette. I Punched it .30 over, Keith Black pistons, Crane Compucam, Pete Jackson gear drive, BBK 58mm throttle body, ported and polished intake, Holley 26 lb injectors, Holley performance fuel pump, 3.5 inch exhaust running through a 40 series flowmaster with no cat's. 3.73 posi rear and a Fairbanks Racing automatic... When dyno'd 1000 miles after build it put 405 horse down at the wheels. and regularly ran high 11's on aircraft fuel. All of this in my everyday driver which ran perfectly on the stock computer. I did have to remove the gear drive after the noise kept setting a knock sensor code, thus retarding the timing. After that she ran awesome.
I want to do something like this with the Vette but not near as drastic of a build. Some bolt-ons and minor internals are all I'm wanting to get into with this Corvette. The car is cherry and i don't want to hack it up to much....
Sooo, if you've already played the game with your Corvette and have any suggestions I'd be very appreciative for your input.
There are several intake (super ram, mini ram, etc.) and exhaust options (true duals, cat backs, headers) if you like to spend a lot of money. I intend to port and siamese my intake. The plenum was easy. I had a guy down the road weld on my exhaust. Next I intend to port the exhaust manifold. 1.6 ratio rockers and porting the heads would be good along with a new cam! That'll make plenty of power. I like to work on the car and don't like to spend a lot of money. So I'll keep my intake, heads, and exhaust and port them. Maybe put a cam in over the winter. The "free mods" are fun and easy. 65ZO1 has a nice webpage on mods.

I have the car scheduled to do into the exhaust shop Monday...They are building a new 3 inch system from the engine back minus the cat. True duals all the way and installing two Dyna (something) Mufflers with LT-1 tips. He is saying it will be much louder, better flowing, and less noise in the car. I hope he's right for $400.
