Default Brake Booster for LT1?

Well, I suspect my power brake booster has seen its last days. I have about 1/2" of loose play in the brake pedal, then it just goes hard as a rock. Doing the "Pump the brake then turn the engine on" test, I get about another 1/2" of pedal drop, so the booster is doing something, but not a lot. (I pulled the vaccum tube to the booster, and there was PLENTY of vaccum).

So, now the question is, which booster to get? It seems everyone is recommending the metal booster, but which one? Someone had linked to a hotrodusa page of boosters, but didn't indicate which one would fit the LT1. Any tips as to which one to get would be greatly appreciated!

There are two types you can go with. The stock plastic one that runs about$300.00. The second type is made of metal zinc cadium and sells for $169.99. Both can be purchased at mid america motorworks.

Again, which part number? All of the metal ones appear to be for '91 and earlier. Is there a metal one for the '92/LT1s?? When I look under '85-'96, there is only the plastic one listed for '92+. For repro boosters (the metal ones) they only list it up to '91. Nothing for the LT1s..

When my booster went, I looked - HARD for a metal booster that I could use to replace the crap-ola plastic one. I found that you could replace your late C4 plastic booster with a ZR1 style - double blatter - metal booster, for a considerable cost ($450 ish). The metal can is of similar size and dimension as the ZR1 style, but the connection rod is different.

In sum, I ended up buying a crappy plastic one that will need to be replaced - again - in a couple years. The brand is A1CARDONE, they supply aftermarket replacement stores like murrays and a-zone. I am sorry - I do not know the part number, and it was about $200 too expensive. I would be interested to know that there is a bolt on replacement that I could buy for my 93, I totally scoop it up...
