Could someone please tell me how much gear oil is in the rear. Iv'e sucked out just over a quart and can't seem to make the tube go any other route to get more
Iv'e got 2 bottles of of GM posi additive and some synthetic gear oil ready to go in.
Thanks as always

My 95 manual says 1 1/2 qts. It does not differeniate between the two rear ends, giving only this one spec. So apparently the 36 and 44 share this capacity. Put the additive in first and fill it until it runs back out. You can't go wrong.

This is what I did. Two bottles of additive in first then filled to overflow. When the bit of overflow was just about done dripping out I put the plug back in. Held about 39 ounces plus the 2 four ounce bottles of additive. So about 47 ounces total went in mine and maybe 1/2 ounce dripped out overflow.
Wait, I think I spilled a little now that I think back, but not much.

Thanks everyone Looks like there is about 10 oz of stinky rear fluid that may stay behind. I'm going to try the car in a couple more positions to attempt to extract more. Drilling and tapping a drain plug is looking better all the time
I found that by using 3/8 " clear flexible tubing, I could get all the way to the bottom and suck everything out.
A couple of observations. depending on whether the car is level or not on the jackstands, changes the amount the drains through the open plug.
IF the nose is lower it will start draining out again after it stopped when the car is level.
