Part number for the Spicer U-joints in the 1/2 shaft?

I am in search of some u-joints that don't have the needle bearings since mine are self destructing on the first launch lately.

In the meantime I am going to put a set of my old ones in, and have them cryoed at Dads place. Hopefully they will live for a short period of time, and then I can try the needless ones if I can locate some.

Thanks...

Jesse,
The ujoints coated for aluminum is 5-800x
Since you do not keep the ujoints on the car for years at a time, you can buy the 5-799x for less than $20 at any spicer/truck distributor. These are there HD model #'s.

Please explain. Are these the same ujoint just different part numbers or is one supposed to be stronger than the other?

Jesse, i've always got mine from Toms or from the dealer (who uses spicer also). However the dealer soaked me for them.

I recently ordered from Tom's and what they sent me were the 5-800x u-joints. They were not cheap however ($116 for 4 of them).

jesse,
http://www2.dana.com/expert/wc.dll?hvtss~dealerloc~

You probably will have to order 5-800x. Just go with 5-799x - same ujoint, it does not have the aluminum friedly material on it.
You do not keep the ujoints on long enough to worry about it.

I got mine at a truck driveline distributor.

Supposedly they're stronger. I don't have anything to back it up, and haven't compared them side by side. The SPL's also have the coated caps. I took some pics of them next to the stock spicers. I haven't gotten around to posting em. I dunno if the differences are materials or dimensions or what.

I guess I lucked out, I bought them from Gary (formerly Tom's diff) and got the whole set of 6 for $150 or so, he had em in stock.
