I checked with summit and jegs and both listed that the SR isn't compatible with centerbolt valve covers. Is this correct? I suspect no, but I figured I would axe.

Don't know why they'd say that. I just installed the Accel base on my car and the center bolt holes are elongated for use with either "old" bolt angles or "new"..the actual valve covers have squat to do with it.

I had fitment issues on the valve covers a little. I had to modify mine a little.

You may have to grind a couple thousands off the upper ridge of the valve covers, but I think that is for the perimeter bolt versions too.

Let me offer a counterpoint... I've got a *cheap* set of centerbolt covers that fit no problem, but my *nice* set of ProForm covers needed grinding down along the top edge to fit under the runners. I'd bought them from someone who had them on a SR'd car, and had to do even more grinding to get them to fit mine. The Proforms are too thick to fit without modification.

However, that still shouldn't be enough to warrant a "DOES NOT FIT"...

My proforms are the same way. I had to grind about 1/6" to 1/8" on the spots where the runners are to get them on. There's still more than half the gasket surface and there's no poblem with leaks.

this is interesting. absolutely no grinding for runner clearance was necessary for mine.
