? on CS to SI alternator swap.
I know I've read someplace that I can convert from the older style vette alternator to the newer style, there is just some basic rewiring. Can someone explain to me just what re-wiring is involved? I know that sites on the net sell a conversion harness, but I want to get this done today and don't want to spend $30 on something I could solder and heat shrink myself. Anybody know what's involved?

EDIT: I just noticed that you have a '85. Not sure if my link applies to your year. But as you wrote about swapping from CS alternator to a newer model it might.

which has a 17 SI alternator 120 amps, u need to upgrade to CS 144 series 140 amps, check this one:

I have a 85 vette i followed this one and ordered and installed
and very happy with so many gauges and aftermarket radio
with 400 amp still going strong very strong,
i bought mine from Alternatorparts.com for $170 (Cs 144 140 amp) plus $12 for adapter which fits perfectly a piece of cake.
u might even buy a heavy duty one 140 amps for $270 if u have
lots of electrical goodies but i suggest u just go for cs 144 140 amps regular one u will be happy for ever, period.
