maybee its just me because this is my first vette, but my 84 with crossfire needed some new valve cover gaskets, and wowww what a bitch that was. it was horrible just trying to get them outta there. i still havent gotten the drivers side cover off yet because it seems i have to like take off the belts to do it! if anyone has any suggestions on help with this that'd be great, thanks, Jeremy.
Nope I think you are right, there's a lot of stuff to move to get them off.
On the driver's side I removed some brackets, and moved the alt & AIR pump forward slightly. I think I may have removed the brake booster metal line too.
It was not a simple job so I used Fel Pro PermaDry gaskete so I'd not have to do it again soon.
