Default This ever happen to anyone else ?

I was driving to the drag strip last weekend and, about 1.5 hours into the trip, suddenly it feels like my front tires are way out of balance...vibration coming through the gas pedal and steering wheel...

I rarely use my A/C since I drag race the car 90% of the time...probably haven't run the A/C in 18 months....anyway, I shut the A/C off and the vibration dissappears...turn it back on a few miles later and it's fine....about 40 miles further on I exit the interstate and it starts the same thing again...

I shut the A/C off again and it went away after a mile or so...at that point I was only 8 miles from the track so I didn't use it the rest of the day or on the trip home....could something be freezing/locking up ?...I didn't want to chance ripping the serpentine belt since I have a 93 and it's one of those 2 sided deals and not so readily available...thanks

Dan

p.s. the A/C blew nice and cold...

My A/C will cause a vibration too. It can be felt in the pedal and and the steering whell, but doesn't really feel like a wheel balance tho. It's also usually at lower rpms only...like under 1500.

This happened at about 75 mph the first time and 65 the second time...that's about 2800 and 2200 rpm with my gears...

I'm thinking the belt tensioner has gone soft. The additional belt load from the A/C is over riding the springs reduced capacity.

Sound like a good place to start?
