I sold my 94 vert to my dad. He is unhappy with the mods I made to it to make it handle better. I put a sport spring that i bought from Ecklers on the back when the original started to show signs of cracking ( the long way ). I had just put bilstien auto-cross shocks on it right before I sold it to him. My question is, can I put a stock spring on the back and put four softer shocks on the car for him without making the car feel to bouncy. When my old shocks were wore out it would trigger the ASR going over bumps while accelerating. I was trying to steer him toward the edelbrock IAS shocks. But maybe some one knows of a better route. He really likes the way my C-5 rides, and I think that is the ride quality he is after.
I'd like the spring, I've got a stock spring for a 90 if you want to swap.
KYBs are NOT a soft riding shock!
If you want a soft riding shock, get the stock valved Bilsteins or Monroe Extas (I think). Smoothest riding shock with control I've ever used, about $130-140 set.
I'll get flamed on that.

Too bad we don't live closer to each other! I am sure that he jump on the offer, if it were not for the huge distance, with shipping and all. I appreciate the offer. If I put it up for sale I will let you know. I am sure that he is going to buy new shocks and I will sell the bilsteins for him. It will most likely be a winter project though.

My `87 had the Bilstiens stock. At 34,000mi. the car rode so stiff that my wife refused to ride in it anymore. I took them off & got a set of Monroes from Autozone for $20ea., & the car is much more civilised, & comfortable. No need to spend a lot of bucks for shocks. With the Monroes, the car will still glue your eyes to the side of your head when you take those sweepers coming off the expressway, & thats good enough for me
I'm just going by what I've heard on here for a while and that is that KYBs are softer than Bilsteins. I have only had Bilstein Z51 shocks so I can't say for sure.
So is monroe > KYB, as far as ride quality? I've been eyeing the KYBs for ever because of the price. Just need something to hold me over while I gather the reasons to erbuyild my old FX3 bilsteins..
