Default what clutch to get...push/pull?

We'll I am moving to the world of clutches from the state of hades of a broken auto tranny.

Since I'm starting with a clean slate (decided on a zf6 tranny versus other options) What do I look for in a good clutch? Carolina clutch? I do not have a bellhousing of yet

the car is a 91 w/ 383, fast burn heads, Miniram, 224/230 cam on 114 (will likely lose my mind and put in a 236/236 on 112), lightwieght pistons/rods.

Is there more performnce with a push, single mass setup?

Why is center force not mentioned anymore as the go to clutch?

thanks
Woody

p.s. if you have manual tranny parts laying around, please send them to me.........

I sort of know, but I have to ask:
What balance is your engine? (full internal or external)

quasi internal...I'll have to get the flywheel balanced to the flywheel. the original 91's are a slight external balance on the flexplate. I just have a few more lightening holes in mine.

I just did the Centerforce dual friction clutch along with a steel single mass Centerforce flywheel. This setup has been great, but a bit noisy. If you have the stock exhaust and want the vert to remain cadillesque.. stick with the stock dual mass. If you've got a loud exhaust and don't mind the car rough around the edges... the single mass is fine. There are some rattles at low rpm and a clunk at idle. Performance-wise, the clutch is very street friendly. It has a gradual engagement, soft pedal feel, but is not afraid to bite if you engage quickly. You will definitely have to match balance to the old flexplate.

I replaced the stock dual mass setup because the throwout bearing was bad and I figured I'd replace it while I was in there. The car has 82k miles on it and the flywheel and clutch were replaced pretty recently. I already had the Centerforce parts, so I decided to start fresh.

I'd say there is still 75% life on the clutch and the flywheel is in good shape. If you want a setup for a very reasonable price that will likely last you quite a while, let me know....
