Anybody using a CSR/CSI electric water pump?
I am thinking of switching from mecanical to electric so I may use the double roller timing set.
I know some folks are already doing this and I would greatly appreciate the part number for the Cloyes timing set for thi application.
Thanks!!!
prattman
Several people use the Meziere version of the electric water pump with no problems. The CSR/CSI should work the same way, just be sure to double check with the company and make sure it is rated for continuous usage. Some electric water pumps are for short term usage only, such as drag racing.
As for the timing chain part number, gimmie a minute to run over to Summit's site and look.
I ran the CSI with no problems but went with the Meziere HD with the new motor. I had the CSI for over a year with no rpoblems. I did have to do some grinding to get the CSI to fit in the housing where the Meziere went right in no problems.
prattman, to run the Cloyes double roller timing set on your 94. You'll need to upgrade the opti, timing cover, opti wire harness, and opti vacuume harness to the 95/96 versions. You'll also need a camshaft with a longer dowel pin.
Gentlemen,
Thanks for all of the responses.
I am building an engine soooo, I have the Hotcam with the longer pin, need the new cover and the new wiring harness stuff, do you folks have part numbers that will help me get the right stuff?
I have P/P the heads, it took many hours but they look great, ordered the LS1/6 beehive springs today. As soon as I can figure out how, I will post a few pics of the heads before and after.
Oh, thanks Nathan, for the part number. You folks are ALL really top notch...
I had a good working opti when I changed to the Cloyes double roller, so I adapted the new chain set to the 94 opti by welding a machined spacer into the center of the sprocket and pressing the cam spindle into that. Indexing the spindle was easy. Saved me a lot of money and is easy to convert if I change my mind in the future some time. It has been running perfect for a month now.
