I asked in the f body section and no one answered my question, so my question is what is the difference between the 305 tuned port in an 86 T/A and the 350 in the corvette?
well for 1 thing, the 305's used 19lb injectors, compared to 22 for the corvette. The MAF is also slightly differently calibrated.EGR passage on the intake manifold is different with 87 up aluminum head vettes compared to TPI T/A's which all had cast iron. There are several differences throughout the years, what are yo trying to do?
190 HP for the 305, 230 for the 350 (250+ in later years) 290 ft/lbs torque for the 305, 330 for the 350. All sensors were interchangeable from the 350 to 305 (including MAF, yes the same sensor) All intak tract parts interchange as well, ie manifold, runners, throttlebody, and I believe even the distributor (86 was the last year for the large cap HEI on F bodies)

Having corvette catalogs, it's easier than searching for parts somewhere else. I was mostly looking at stuff like intake, heads, manifold, TB, distributor, and maybe gears. Just little stuff to make it a little faster not a race car. It's my girlfriends
I have an '86 IROC and an '88 Vette and, depending on the year of your GF's F-body, you need to use caution when thinking of swapping intake parts. The EGR is a major difference as well as some plenum to TB changes over the years.
One of the mods used by the 3rd Gen F-body guys is to install the #113 Vette heads. This upgrade requires going to Vette intake base with it's external EGR system as well as possibly some exhuast mods.
However, indeed the MAF is swappable as I now run the OEM MAF from the IROC in the Vette.

okay, this is what I heard, yes the MAF will work, but the factory 305 one is only good to 290hp.The 85's are different than the 86-89's.when you buy a new one, they are all 350 MAF's's,regardless if you have a 305.i'm not positive this is true though.BRICHC4,the problem in your girlfriends 86 T/A isnt really the TPI system,(although it will help if you change to a longtube or siamese runners)its the camshaft, which was made for the LG4 motor.TPI's in 86 lost 25hp from 85,because of the cam.86 T/A's also had a flat tappet cam, compared to 87 up roller. If your trying to make it faster, give a list of mileage current mods, and I can make some reccomendations.
