Default ZR1 Transmissions

I have a friend who has a 90 ZR1 with a bad transmission. is there any diffrence in transmissions that will prevent any ZR1 transmission from bolting into another year ZR1? I know they changed the gears from early to late, but is there anything preventing these diffrent transmissions from physically bolting in and working?

Thanks
John

No difference for installation. All ZR1 trannys will fit. From 90 to early 93 the ZF's had the black tag on the case, these trannys are supposed to handle a bit more torque due to their straight cut gears, thus are a bit more noisy than the later Blue tag with angle cut gears. Begining in 94 the shifter lost the reverse loc out pull up ring, but you can always swap an early shifter to the later or vise versa.
