Well I tried everything, pulled cb for ecm, disconected battery but still
have a check engine light when car is running. All I did was disconnect
the Maf so I could fix the rubber boot (it had a tear in it) what am I doing wrong ?

definitely pull the codes!
If it is a MAF code, I had a similar problem recently. The electrical connector at the MAF was dirty and some of the female sockets had spread and were not making good contact.
