Default Electric Water Pump

Installing an electric wp on the engine I am building (94 LT1).
Will I need to plug the hole in the block where the old drive shaft and bearing were?

Thanks,
prattman

I once thought that the hole you are referring to might be allowing extra oil to run down into the timing cover and was thus the cause of my continuing leaks around the main crankshaft seal. I ripped it all apart again, I used RTV to secure a freeze plug and then re-installed the retainer plate just for good measure. Still have an oil leak, I give up.

Apparently that wasn't so much the cause of the leak afterall.

I was going to address this very question!!! I'm interested to hear the results. I'm in the middle of a hot cam and Meziere install and was wondering the same question.

It leaks around the crankshaft seal. I've replaced it with a brand new hub and seal, still leaks. Since I've modified the car in 4 years, there were 6 months where I actually had the leak fixed. I give up, its just gonna leak.

Mine has been unplugged for nearly three years and the only leak I had was cured by installing a new crankshaft seal.

No problem . . . . if you look just to the left and right there are 2 more holes about the same size that also just fall off into that same area.
