Default 85 fuel problems

I am in the process of reviving a neglected 85 corvette TPI. Having problems with a "no start" condition. Engine fires for split second. Fuel pressure is good (40psi),Have good spark, injector wires flash noid light. It seems that the injectors are not flowing fuel. I have a hard time believing all 8 injectors are bad. I don't want to buy a set of injectors without exhausting all options. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Check the fuses. Could be a bad ecm. The initial start is fuel from the cold start injector. It runs off a thermo-timer switch and not the ecm.

Clogged fuel filter? Water in gas?

unplug MAF sensor and try starting, sounds just like my 86 did when MAF went bad.

=kevettom. I have a hard time believing all 8 injectors are bad.

So do I. And given that you have solid fuel pressure, I'm questioning whether this is fuel related at all.

Spray some ether (starting fluid) down the throttle body and see if she lights off. If not, let's start looking at either an ignition or a timing issue.

Given that the noid light is lighting up, the injectors should be firing. Have you pulled the plugs to see if they're wet?

Has this vehicle been sitting for an extended period of time, or did the no start condition appear suddenly? During extended sitting periods, gasoline does deteriorate, and it could simply be spoiled fuel or water in the fuel. If it suddenly quit running, I would start looking at an ignition or timing issue.

Do you have any codes stored in the ECM?

Try the starter fluid and see if it fires and runs....and then we can go from there.

They really only need 4 things to run.....the correct fuel and air mixture, sufficient compression, correct timing (valve and ignition), and a sufficiently strong spark to light the mixture. Everything else is icing on the cake.

Time to isolate which factor is amiss.

Thanks for the info. Turns out, I replaced the injectors with another set and it fired right up. One for the books for me.
