Default Interested in a3" Corsa system?

Got this email from Corsa after my inquiry.

At this time, we have so many new projects that we are working on that
a
3" ZR-1 system is going to be impossible to build anytime soon.

You are also the only person that has asked for this type of system in
a
long long time...

We would need at least 100 orders before we could build this kit.

Thanks,
Jim Browning Jr.

Jeff, what is the difference in a ZR1 and a LT1 exhaust?

Intermediate pipe between the headers and resonator are different. Resonator back is the same.

I'd by a 3" Corsa system, if they would build one to work with headers. I would hate to pay ~1K for a system , then chop it up to work with my long tubes.

I just don't see where anyone would get a performance benefit from a 3" system.

I think it's all hype... 3" is what is needed once you exceed 500hp or are running a hot big block, but the small block depends on the velocity of the air to help scavange the exhaust gases...

bogus, you are probably right but the factory system is 2&3/4 on the LT1 I just hate to step back to a 2&1/2

It's not hype, I hate losing 15-20 hp just for having a 2.5 exhaust. I spent major money on my motor just to have a bottle neck in just about the cheapest part of my mods.

It's going to be even worse when I get the 4" crank in this winter. At that point I'll probably abandon Corsa and go with the Bassani or B&B

It will be next to impossible to round up 100 orders... Nice idea though.

I put down an extra 10rwhp going from a 2.5 to 3 inch.

stock from GM is 2 3/4 inch.

If you look under your car, you will notice that the stock 2 3/4 exhaust necks down to 2 1/2 intering the resonator and the mufflers, so it is not a true 2 3/4 exhaust. Only as big as the smallest section. That is why a true 2 1/2 will out flow it making more hp. True that a 3 inch exhaust is only useful for those with big hp.

OK Jim who never responded to my inquiry about measurements for the Viper mufflers so I could see if they would fit. I ended the email by pleaing again for a 3" system for C4's. It was two weeks ago, so maybe that is a long time.

As far as performance, I thought that scavenging was the job of the headers and collector, beyond that it's all about free flow. While 3"may not be necessary, I don't see how it would hurt. Going too large on the header primaries would hurt. I believe anyone with NO2, forced induction or 400+ cubes would benefit from running a 3" exhaust. Open headers w/out the headache.

That's the sad part, if it was available they would sell 100 easy. But 100 pre-orders, I'm afraid you're probably right....
