tach filter-what?

The spark control module (don't know if 94's have them) have a separate output for the tach and the tach filter is between the scm and the cluster circuit board. I doubt very much that the tach filter even if shorted will prevent the scm from generating a spark. If you disconnect the tach filter and run with no tach, that will eliminate the tach filter from causing your no run condition.

I think, in '94, the output of the tach filter was used for the ASR.
I know the ECM had a dedicated tach output in '96 and didn't use a tach filter, but I don't know what year the change was made.
