My 95 coupe is generally reasonbly quiet when driving, except for the typical rattles when going over sharp bumps. Lately I've noticed a creaking that comes ONLY when the engine is hot enough to result in the extra fan going on. When the engine gets that hot, I hear a creaking when going over slightly irregular roads or mild bumps.
In other cars I have owned with old shocks or bushings, I could get this same sound by "bouncing" the car by exerting weight on one of the corners of the car while the car is stopped. I tried this on the Vette when the car was stopped and could not duplicate the sound so I assume shocks, etc. are okay (especially since there is NO creaking unless the engine is hot enough to get the fan on).
I assume maybe something is expanding from the heat to cause some rubbing somewhere. Does anyone else have this problem or does anyone have any ideas on what might be happening?
