Default Power Antenna Help

Hello all,
I am new to this forum and new to the corvette world. This morning I purchased a 85 Corvette Coupe with Exhaust, Pullies, Chip, Injectors, and Intake. I know nothing about corvettes but am hoping to take in as much information as possible. My Power antenna mast is broken and was flopping around so i pulled out what i could and cut the push cable. I ordered this.... http://www.corvetteparts.com/details/iid/25219501.htm ... today.. is it the right part? What do i have to do to replace it? Can I get to the device from the trunk or how do I access it? Thanks alot guys. ~Jason

Congrats on your 85 and welcome to the forum. That is the mast repair kit and will work fine as long as you didn't cut up any of the metal mast. Remove the trim around the rear hatch and the shade track on drivers side. Beside the hatch latch you will find the power connection and under the carpet and foam behind driver side shade track you will find the coaxial connection. Both of those go through a rubber grommet to the rear wheel well area. The grommet and wires have to come out as a set. There is a large plastic nut at the top of the mast that you can reach(undo by hand) after removing the inner fender. 2 or 3 bolts hold the motor. Once out you will have to drill out the rivets that hold the body together. Remove the finial end and nylon rod and replace with the new one. Use machine screws and nuts to bolt the body back together and reverse the procedure for install.

That is the same part i put in mine except i bought mine from GM. Intalling a new antenna will save you about 15 min work
Like i said before, if you have broken off any part of the mast other than the finial end(the solid piece with the **** on the end) that kit will not remedy your problem. It only repairs the nylon rod and finial end

If the mast is broken from the ribbon you may be able to pick up a used mast or complete used antenna assy. from Contemporary Corvette (link on my site).
