Default Having odd electrical problems

I got my vette a week ago and started making repairs and restroring the car.
When I first got it the battery was dead, I didnt think anything of it. All of the speakers were out, I replaced the capacitors in all the amps and now the all the speakers work.
When I first got it the lights behind the dash did not work now that I finished the speakers the lights behind the dash now work.

HERE IS WHAT I NEED HELP WITH!!!!!
But heres the problem. I bought a brand new Bosch Battery and installed it. three days later it goes dead and the car will not start. I go and buy an altenator and install it my self no big deal, done it before. I jump the car and get it running for a little while. Acouple hours later the battery is dead again and the car will not start. What is the problem? This is really starting to get to me. Anybody know what the problem could be?
Is there something wrong with the battery or the electronics? Is there something I can check?
HELP!!!

sounds like the new battery is DOA... more then likely, once it went dead, it was done.

Contrary to popular belief most batteries dont come fully charged and need a good initial 24 hr charge after store shelf time. That being said it sounds like you still have a draw. The under hood lights are a likely suspect. They are operated by internal mercury switches that fail redily after age. They can cause a draw even when the bulb doesn't light up and certainly so if thay do light up and do not cut off as they should with hood closed. You can trace the wire down from lights to the plug and unplug them to check. Many of us have wired switches to them or just leave them unplugged.

Also check everthing like interior lights, rear hatch lights. rearview mirror lights ect to make sure they go off.

After that you may just have to unhook wires idividually one at a time at power distribution block down low behind battery to find the one drawing juice with key off. Or you can pull fuses at fuseblock one at a time to test circuits idividually there.

Good luck.

OK this is a stupid question. And I know I know this but I have to ask this just in case.
Red is for negative and black is for positive in this correct? I hooked up the battery the same way it had been hooked up and I thought something was odd about the way it was hooked up but I just went along with it.
So Red Neg and Black Pos, correct?

NO! NO! NO!

Just the opposite! Red is positive and black is negative! Your lucky you didn't burn up the car or blow up the battery!

Unless someone has made some ridiculose changes.

You should have gotten sparks when you connected it that way!
