Default I'm impressed!

With the quality of aftermarket engine parts. We're building this 383 for a friends LT1 car, Eagle crank, Cloyes double roller, Comp Cams bumpstick.

We went about finding TDC with a degree wheel tonight. We eyeballed the TDC marks on the chain gears as close as possible before finding TDC. After hitting the piston stop in both directions actual TDC wound up being only 1 1/2 degrees off from what we eyeballed on the chain gears.

When you stop and think the crank and chain aren't stock and eyeballing TDC is that close it's quite impressive.

Heck the 1 1/2 degrees would be easy to account for by my bad vision. If the cam comes in straight up I'll be even more amazed.

I hear ya, we degreed the cam in my engine not long ago with a non-adjustable timing set, and it came out to be damn near perfect. It's a 110CL and it came out at 110.5...better than I expected!
