Default "Tuning out" cam surge

I've heard you can "tune out" cam surge, or at least a lot of it in a few different threads. Of course no one actually says HOW they tune it out... I've got surge from 1200-1900 RPM at <%10 throttle.

How can I try to get rid of it?

Thanks..

I've had success with adding closed throttle timing in and before the target RPM area. Then tailor the advance tables so the transition is smooth. PM me if you have any questions.

Doesn't the closed TPS timing table only effect, closed TPS timing?? My issue is with part throttle, low rpm cruising. How much advance are you running in the 800-1600 range?

Thanks!

Tweak the timing and fuel. I just tuned my 224/230 605/622 112 cam to have 0 cam surge. I added timing and took away fuel.

From my limited experience I would describe "cam surge" as this:

When on a light throttle condition (such as maintaining sane speeds in high gear) the driver will feel the engine rpm rise and fall rhythmically (said "cam surge"). It is rather irritating and makes one dig deeper into the throttle to avoid the surge.

Fortunately the above posts will lead you to post "cam surge" nirvana.

I have the same cam as STL94LT1, but I have an auto with 3.33 gears. Lower gears (higher number) can help with surge also. I don't know if you have an auto, but moving my TCC lock up to a higher RPM helped my car alot.

Hmm I wonder if a longer runner would help out?
