This has been making me crazy cause I dont want to find out that I need a new tranny....My corvette is a 91 with an automatic, just recently at wot the trans is shifting at 6000 + rpm, usually after driving for 20 -30 mins. It used to shift around 5700 rpm. During normal driving the tranny shifts great, no problems, nice crisp shifts. Even when the tranny shifts at crazy rpm's at wot it still shifts nice and crisp....no slipping. Could the tranny need some adjusting??? or is does this sound like a more serious problem???
A L98 '91 shifted at +6000? Are you sure?
Have you some mods( heads cams, intake)?
90 and 91 are similar... for sure I know that all '90 have tach problems.
I have a 90 and I replaced the tach with an aftermarket one.
At 5000 rpm the stock tach is over 6,500 rpm!!
About the trans try to see if the TV cable is properly set.
This has not or little influence on WOT shifts but is good to have it checked.
