mis or dead cyclinder
the last mods i installed were msd small cap dist,msd ext coil,8.5 wires,autolight racing plugs and eprom. running like a dream.couple of weeks later i heard a rocker ticking. ok reset the rockers twice screwed that up. then had the real tek come over and reset the rockers. ok now but i think iv got a dead mis. the car will idle fine then all of a sudden it will shudder and all most die but will recover then do it again. while driving the car when i press on the pedal higher rpm i can really feel the mis which makes the car jerk like i stepped on the brake then recover. first thing i replaced was the tps still the same prob. next thing i did was turn the idle up and drive the car with my foot off the pedal, idle high enuf for 20 to 25 mph and the car will still act like i hit the brakes then recover.the only thing that happen during my personal rocker settings was i hit the alternator hot wire with the valve cover which sparked. pulled the hot off the batt to reset the ecm. the alt gauge is the same as its always been. it never ends. what do yall think? `90 383 6speed.

Check to see if your injector clips are tight. Also make sure the spark plugs are tight in the hole and that your wires are good. I remember I had a dead #2 after my SRI installation and after replacing all my spark plugs and sparkplug wires, it was a day's worth of effort to find out in 2 minutes that the #2 injector clip was not on tight. If the shudder is that severe it my not be a dead cylinder but you can check for a spark problem by clipping a timing light onto each wire in turn to see if one goes dead during the epesode.
