Any recommendation for valve stem seals (umbrella type) for '89 stock heads.
Looking at Summit / Jegs listing stem is 11/32, what is the stock OD ?
Have .500 + .530 listed.
I'm not sure about the stock OD; I was very satisfied with performance of the OEM seals and didn't want any fitment issues either so I got a complete set of uppers & lowers from my local Chevy dealer for around $60.
Go with the Felpro "blue" seals. I also would suggest that you use the intake seals all the way around...use them on the exhaust too. This has been suggested many times in prior posts. I did this on my 85 ironheads and they worked great...NO PROBLEMS. I am now running new aluminum so I won't worry about that for awhile.
Thanks for the info.
Heads are "113s" on my old 95K motor.Didn't bother to change seals when ZZ4 cam / LT4 springs went in so now trying to solve smoke only at hot idle problem until new 383 built.
Embarrasing sitting the staging lanes with more smoke from exhaust than tyres.
