Default Passive Keyless Entry Light

I have a 94 LT1 vette, and lately the Passive Keyless Entry Light comes on on the DIC.
As soon as I put the key in the ignition it turns off.
I have never used the PKE, and don't even have a remote for it.
Anybody know why this light started coming on???
Thanks,
prattman

I have the same problem on my 96 and I think I've narrowed it down to the receiver inside the dash. Not easy to replace. Do a search for pke on the forum. There are many threads on how to diagnose, program key fobs, replace the receiver etc.

If you don't use it though, just pull the bulb out of the DIC. Problem solved.

The light comes on when the system is active. You can shut it off with a remote. I turn mine off when I'm washing it. If you disconnect the battery for more than a few minutes it will default to being Passive I believe. Without a remote though, I don't think you'll have any problems. Just don't leave the keys in it......................just in case.
