I'd like to add a debris screen across the radiator opening. The reason for this is that I now have an oil cooler sitting in there. The idea of something nailing the cooler (however remote) is not appealing.
Anyway....Has anyone done this? Do you have pics you can post or e-mail? My main concern is being able to mount the screen without needing to permanently modify the front bumper cover.
Here is a pic of the cooler I want to protect (this was prior to reinstallation of the radiator shroud):
This pic from above give you an idea of what opening I would like to address with the debris screen:

All the major suppliers have a " screen" that is a piece of radiused expanded metal that blocks the opening to the radiator.
One of these may work for you, it will depend on the radius you are trying to cover.

I went to Home Depot, & bought the curved sections of mesh screening that they sell for the rain gutters. It was cheap, looks good, & worked fine for my `87

How did you attach it to the front bumper cover? My '96 doesn't have any screws/bolts readily available to use as mounting points. Does yours? For the lower mounting, I'll use the bolts that secure the front spoiler.

Exactly what I did and it works great. A few zip ties and the job was done!
I used 4 zip ties. 2 at the bottom corners (drilled 2 holes in the air dam at the edges) and top and bottom of the center brace.

That's what I would have suggested... or go to a neighbors house and steal the screens off the windows
I was running 230-240 degree oil temps this weekend at the drag strip. I decided not to autox any this weekend after that. How much cooler are you running with that oil cooler? Will it run too cool in the winter with that oil cooler?

In a few weeks, the setup will make its debut on a road course. Without the oil cooler, I would run until I saw 300* oil temps and then I'd take a few cool down laps. I'm hoping the cooler setup drops my temps 35* to 40*.
As far as the winter....I have a MOCAL 180* oil thermostat that's plumbed into the system as well. Here's a pic of the thermostat during the install...

There is nothing wrong with those temps.
Maybe I should have followed this thread and jumped on earlier. I can understand the concern for an expensive cooler. I also share the concern for losing all the engine oil from a damaged cooler. I can see where a trash guard will keep debris from clogging the space between the condensor and the radiator, but how many holes have you had to patch in your condensor? I think the comment,"however remote" tells the story. In any case, good luck, and...

From what I saw, previous owner put one of the ones from Ecklers or MAD on mine, and that is all it was, the gutter screen painted black. That is what I used on my hood louvers and it works great.

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
