Default Spark Plug Help

I'm doing my long awaited tune up on my LT4 and I had a few questions. I'm not going with platinum plugs so I bought some NGK's. I asked for the TR55 plug but they gave me the TR5. The NGK website says the TR55 is the stock replacement but when I looked at the specs on each plug, it appears that only the gap is different. Will the TR5 plugs work or do I really need to get the TR55?

The TR55 IS a platinum plug. That's what I put in my '92. I don't know what the copper plug model number is.

My understanding is, the TR55 is a stock replacement copper plug.

It seems that NGK makes Iridium and Laser platinum.
Which is better?

Nope and I've got a set in my car to prove it. TR55's are standard plugs. Now they have variations, like the TR55IX or some **** for exotic metal versions, etc. You can look on NGK's web site for details.

TR55: .059"gap

TR5: .039"gap, otherwise identical

VX suffix (e.g. TR55VX) indicates platinum

Default What about the seat???

I had TR55's in my car. I was concerned about the seat design. The original plugs have a taper seat and the TR55's have a flat seat with a sealing washer. I went back to AC's.
