As promised. NAPA belt number is 060670. This belt is VERY tight as I wanted maximum tension on the factory tensioner. I needed to loosen one of the brackets on the alternator to get it to slide over the shoulder on the pulley. If I ever find the right pulley, with grooves, for the tensioner it will loosen the tension a little bit, and with normal stretch, I figure I will be OK.
Thanks again to all who offered suggestions and big to Matt for having the sloution.
I have no idea how to post the pics. If somebody wants them I will gladly email them if they email me a request. I haven't even figured out yet if there is some sort of spell chkr on this forum. Then chucks88 comes along and uses italics. I am impressed.

Hey, if someone didn't send those pics to me in the first place I wouldn't be abe to to send 'em to ya!
Here's the way we did a 91 model last year. http://www.r-dracing.com/9586988-R1-047-22.jpg The black framework is the original bracket that we cut the excess off of. Then we cut a new slot in the bracket so that the idler can be rotated upward to give the belt more wrap around the water pump.
On the 89, 90 and 91 models, we don't have the small harrison A/C compressor, but the large nippon denso unit. This fact doesn't affect the belt routing, but is more reason to get rid of that big ole compressor.
Jesse ski_dwn_it can do this one better as he is using an electric water pump. Maybe he'll add his pic here.
As far as belt grip wrapping around the water pump pulley, it's plenty fine.
Any thoughts on your part about going into the manufacture of air pump eliminator brackets? If so, put me on the list.
It's one of those things hanging from the rafters. As the business grows and we acquire new machinery to produce the product, we'll add it to the product line. Making them by hand just takes to much time to mass produce them.

i am think of doing this on my 91.. where is your tensioner ..paul
so how did you get the belt tight? i have tried this and experimented with all sorts of different belts and belt routings and it was still loose. maybe a way to adjust the alternator outward??
