Default 95 LT1 - LT4 knock module question

I have a 95 LT1 6spd and have read about upgrading to an LT4 knock module (engine bogs a little sometimes, but I plan to clean out the injectors and replace the spark plugs for that - I'd being doing the module for the heck of it mostly). This is something that works with the stock LT1 sensors - correct? Where can I buy the module and is there somewhere that explains installation? - I am completely foreign to these newer computerized cars.... Thank you!

I got mine from www.paceperformance.com, which just happens to be up the street from me...but any GM parts dealer should be able to hook you up.

It works with your existing sensors. All you have to do is remove your PCM, pull the old module, and install the new one. 5-10 minute job. Instructions in the box.

Yes, it's perfectly compatible with your sensors. It's really a correction as the stock LT1 modules were just too sensitive, according to my reading on the subject. I've had one in for a long time, even when the car was relatively stock, with no issues. I'd check with Superior Chevy too, Chris makes us forum members great deals on GM parts.

Also try GMPartsforLess for this item - Dont purchase from the 3 big Corvette catalog guys as they will charge you upwards of $70 for a $28 item (includes shipping, tax and insurance !)

I would go to any chevy dealer and ask for a LT4 knock module,$69.00.
The thing next to your break booster on the drivers side is your computer ,remove the 2 screws and flip it over and remove the screws on the back side little door ,pull out the module and install the new one .Reinstall and you are set.
You don't need to remove any of the wires that hook to the computer.

The factory module on later LT1s is considered to be just too sensitive. Especially if you install roller rockers, headers, etc., the module will sense false knock and retard timing in an effort to protect the engine. Obviously this can cut way back on power.

Thanks for the info - I just read that a louder exhaust can also cause a false knock. I will be getting a 2.5" B&B as soon as I have time to install it... So this is certainly something I may need in the future if not now - It seems that there are no negative side effects from what I have read...

I have the LT4 Knock Module (technically called Electronic Spark Control Module) installed on my '95 with no apparent adverse results.

Its just sort of like insurance against timing retard due to false knock. It doesn't ADD any power. It simply PREVENTS power loss in the case of false knock happening.
