91 L98... Problem: running for 30 seconds and still stalling everytime.... OR if i give it gas it loses power, let the gas go..regains power..THEN stalls. Changed the fuel pump 2x, fuel filter, cap, rotor, clean air filter..lotta noise commin from the air intake area... could it be a throttle body sensor?...anyone with ideas before i give in and have her towed 45 miles =/

I guess I would try to trace down that noise first. Have you thrown on fuel pressure guage on your shreader valve to get some readings there?

What kinda noise are we talkin' 'bout? under what conditons? does the noise change?

Remove the flexible air hose from the front of the MAF and see how it runs. You might have a restriction in the air filter path. Measure the fuel pressure and watch it when you open the throttle. It should hold pressure. If not, you have a fuel delivery problem, or even a leaky injector/s. After turning the ignition off, watch how long the fuel pressure holds. If it drops rapidly you can have a leaky injector or defective fuel check valve. Any flexible tubing in the fuel path may be collapsing shutting off the fuel, check for that. Another cause may be a clogged catalytic converter.

When you open the throttle you are leaning the mixture and when you let off you richen it up.

First check fuel pressure during idle and just before it stalls.

If pressure is ok, check the connections to the MAP sensor. It may be that the MAP is not registering manifold vacuum properly. To this end also check for a cracked or loose vacuum line.

Default Did you...

Did you redo timing w/o opening the bypass circuit? If there's noise coming from the intake area, does it lessen as the throttle opens? Is the noise greater on the passenger or the driver's side? Has the EGR valve under the middle of the plenum come loose? What about the TB gasket?

Good luck.

No way did all 8 injectors go bad at one time but if you're going to buy new ones you might as well get a whole new set of 8. Another option would be to send them away to someone like www.witchhunter.com and have them tested ,cleaned, and basically rebuilt for allot cheaper. I sent mine there and couldn't have been happier with their service.

I would be very skeptical of that. If you let them change that get it in writing that if that does not solve the problem that you get your money back. If they are so confident that is it they SHOULDn't have a problem with that.

intake manifold vaccum leak?

I had one do the exact same thing you are talking about and this was the cause. Had to tear down the entire intake and replace the manifold gaskets and all the vacuum hoses to fix it because I nor a mech. friend could isolate where it was leaking. Only thing is in order to change the injectors you have to tear it half way down, and they are liable to fix the real problem in the process and not know it.

well, finally got her back....it's not the same car i sent in...sounds different (meaner), runs faster-more power, idles smooth and excellent. i thought it was very pricey- cost 820 for 8 injectors, 8 plugs and an oil change. BUt now that she's running so good, I am very happy (although it's burnin gas a lil faster) .....thank u all for your input, very appreciated.
