I believe it is the heater core valve, I think it opens when you have the heat on. I could be wrong on this.

Looks like a heater control valve to me. Vacuum operated off your climate control inside the car. Only allows coolant through the heater core when the heat is actually on.

ty for the pic ramrod, but i just linked cause i didnt want to break the forum frames.
it looks like the part thats leaking is connected to the other hose. Like, the vacuum part that moves in and out is connected to the top hose and the moveable part is connected to a valve on the bottom hose. I think the valve must be leaking....
but anyways the real question is, is it all one part that both hoses plug into or 2 seperate or what? my chiltons has no answer...

If things are really that tight, simply eliminate the heater control valve. My car hasn't had one for over 18 years, and I've never missed it.
If you
CAN scrape the $90.00 together, it will save you
WAAAAY over that, in farmed out repairs and in replacing parts that
AREN'T defective.
RACE ON!!!

Keep an eye out for one on ebay or here on the forum. If you plan do much work on your car yourself, they are worth their weight in gold.
