Should be a tan wire with a black stripe sticking out of the harness near the brake booster. Warm up the car, unplug that wire. set timing, and plug the wire back up. Done deal.
when you remove the tan wire with the black stripe probably you will see a code. disconnect the negative battery cable to clear the code that the tan wire with a black stripe has produced.

If you check the timing before you pull the tan/black wire, you will see that it's probably up close to 15-20 degrees. The ESC (electronic spark control) listens to the knock sensor and advances the timing to just below any detonation. Pulling the tan/black, essentially disables the ESC, so that you can set a base line for it. If you change the base line the ESC can't operate in the range GM designed it to.
