Default exhaust question

If I run Hooker 2149 headers straight pipes back to a set of mufflers will I loose anything on the low end due to back pressure, or is a set of mufflers enough to provide antiquate back pressure. Trying to avoid $300 worth of high flow cats.

Assuming the mufflers you refer to are stock, they will be somewhat restrictive. Go ahead and try it. Let us know how it sounds and runs.

You probably won't lose any low end compared to stock, but you will lose low end compared to what you could get if you used headers with 1 5/8" primaries, rather than the 1 3/4" Hookers. In this case it isn't about back pressure. It's about velocity. The faster moving (through smaller tubes) gases have more energy to help scavenge the exhaust gases that follow.

RACE ON!!!

What year Vette?

Do you have an AFPR to bump fuel pressure for more fuel flow at WOT?
